I'm exicted about the international collaboration announced today with Hootsuite and Syracuse University on digital and social learning. Students, both undergraduate and graduage, will take part in the program as part of social media classes that I teach at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
This partnership will allow students to connect the social media strategy and concepts learned in class with the same hands-on training used by professionals. Students will be using Hootsuite Pro to learn how to manage multiple social networks, such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn. Video-based lessons, case studies and testing through HootSuite University will be integrated throughout the course.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive Hootsuite professional certification, including an online badge, and will be added to Hootsuite’s directory of social media consultants.
The goal is to help students demonstrate meaningful digital and social media skills and understanding that prepare them for the jobs of today and in the future.
Course Objectives:
- understand the culture of professional social engagement and socially enabled organizations and professions;
- develop team building and collaborations skills through the professional use and integration of multiple social networks like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+.
- gain insight through hands-on technical experience with professional social sharing, listening, monitoring, and analytics using Hootsuite Pro and other digital tools;
- evaluate internal and external social media strategy and integration from an interdisciplinary perspective across multiple departments and industries;
- apply various types of theory, practice, and strategies to digital and social media
I feel fortunate to work at a university that supports and encourages innovation and makes connecting students and professionals a priority.
I look 4Ward to your feedback.
